The restoration gives your smile a prosthetic tooth, or teeth. This tooth is secured by dental crowns placed atop the natural teeth on either side of the gap where the missing tooth once was. Doctors Vaca and Kirby and their highly experienced staff can perform this procedure at their beautiful facility in Longview, Texas.
Dental Bridge Benefits
Dental bridges provide numerous benefits:
- Assist ability to chew
- Prevent remaining teeth from shifting
- Reduce risk of disease
- Lower chances for decay
- Stability (compared to dentures)
- Less invasive (compared to dental implants)
- Natural appearance and fully functioning
Dental Bridge Procedure
Dental bridges are generally placed during a two stage process in our Longview office.
The first stage will consist of preparing the natural teeth on either side of the gap for the crowns. The teeth will be cleaned, then partially removed in order to be prepared for the dental crowns that will support the dental bridge. An anesthetic will be provided to ensure maximum comfort during the procedure. An impression of your mouth will then be taken and sent off to a lab where your permanent tooth replacements will be manufactured. While this is happening, you will be fitted with temporary crowns and a temporary dental bridge to protect your mouth from further damage.
As soon as your permanent dental bridge is ready, you can return to our office where our team will replace the temporary crowns with the custom permanent replacement. The permanent crowns are carefully placed and the bridge is secured with dental cement or a bonding solution. Your new teeth will then be adjusted to ensure that your comfort is maintained.
